Orchid Ramble is a temporary window mural inspired by my love of walking and orchid hunting with fellow plant enthusiasts, family and friends (both human and animal alike). It takes a whimsical approach to searching for these alien-like plants, depicting species native to both Anglesea and Aireys Inlet, including the Giant Spider Orchids Caladenia excelsa, Donkey Orchids Diurus, Flying Duck Orchids Paracaleana minor and endemic Bearded Greenhoods Pterostylis unicornis. To ramble is to take a pleasurable walk through the countryside. I use this term in reference to ANGAIR (Anglesea, Aireys Inlet Society for the Preservation of Flora and Fauna) who use Nature Rambles to describe their guided environmental events open to community participation. I am indebted to the people who have shared their knowledge and passion for orchids and have opened my eyes to the strange and wonderful world they inhabit.
Orchid Ramble is now showing in the window gallery of Dot.Space
